Responsibilities
The Clinton Township Bureau of Fire Safety is responsible for the enforcement and inspection of the Smoke Alarm, Carbon Monoxide Alarm, and Fire Extinguishers Compliance Inspections on the sale of a home, lease or change of occupancy for any residential structure.
It is also responsible for the investigation of all complaints received pertaining to fire safety, and is required by state statute to perform fire investigations to determine the cause and origin of fires.
Mission
The mission of the Clinton Township Bureau of Fire Safety is to protect the general public and community against fire through the enforcement of the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code and local ordinances through fire inspections, public education, and training the industries, retail establishments and general public in fire safety.

The State of New Jersey has adopted the NJ 2015 International Fire Code. The State of NJ has previously been using the NJ International Fire Code 2006 edition. The new NJ 2015 International Fire Code will be enforceable starting July 1st 2018.
