Among many diverse duties, the major responsibility of the Department of Public Works is the maintenance of all Township roads and parks. Consisting of 11 full-time employees, the Department also plows all municipal roads and conducts the annual leaf collection program.
The Department also performs most of the maintenance required on all municipal vehicles. In a typical year, the Department uses about 750 tons of rock salt and 1,500 tons snow grits, plus 3,500 gallons of calcium chloride for snow and ice control activities. The leaf collection program is one of the Department's major activities, collecting 1500 cubic yards of leaves collected over a span of two months in the fall. Routine road patching consumes about 1200 tons of asphalt in a typical year.

Transfer Station Cards
Postcards entitling residents to one free pick-up sized load of bulky household waste to be taken to the Petticoat Lane transfer station are available by calling the Clerk's Office at 735-8800 x200.
Leaf pick-up will begin Monday, October 29, 2018. There will not be any zones this year. DPW will have crews out at each end of the Township.
Please keep in mind the following:
1. Leaves must be raked and curbside prior to your scheduled zone date.
2. Piles of leaves with sticks, branches and grass clipping will NOT be accepted.
3. Bagged leaves will not be accepted.
4. Please do not rake leaves into the roadway, as this obstructs drainage.
This is a voluntary program, residents preferring to compost leaves or dispose of on their own property, may do so.
The purpose of the leaf collections program is to help alleviate the abundance of leaves that will cover the street and clog the storm drains. It is not intended to be a lawn service that ensures all your leaves will be collected from your lawn. We will do the best we can with one pass down your street.
Public Works appreciates your cooperation and patience to ensure the program’s success.
LEAF PICK-UP IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE AND IS WEATHER DEPENDENT.
